One way to think about this is as such: If it is just to have a longarm to go with your 45 colt, you might want to consider a 45 colt levergun. Teh 300 grain 405 has adequate penetration at best.
4570 vs 3030 Lever Action Rifle Caliber Comparison
Either one works just fine in a tubed magazine.
The sectional density is better on the 45/70 and the 45/70 can take heavy loads.
It was used beecause it was the most powerful round chambered in the 95 winchester. To put this into perspective, a boeing 737 commercial airliner travels at a cruising speed of 600 mph, or 880 fps. The 45/70 is far more practical. Truly appreciate you watching the videos!!!wtw shirts!!!
The 405 is a great nostalgic cartridge.
The browning blr is a great rifle, but kinda pricey for what you get. This winchester model 1886 made in 1891 was restored in 1980 by turnbull restoration. The 45/70 is one of my favorites for hunting, but the 45 colt goes out the door with me most times afield. You say the devil made do it with a smile.
You can even find a few +p loads.
A statistical comparison also means that you must delve into each cartridge’s attributes, identifying where each round has an advantage over its counterpart. I’ve got another cartridge comparison episode for you today. One of the original chamberings. Besides a belly shot will get half the field dressing done for you right there on the spot, ma be a bit messy but it will work.
For me it would be a savage 99 in.358 winchester (both are out of production last i heard)
These pressure figures can be somewhat misleading though.
