I think savage 200s are 1:9 twist. The rifle is in ok condition it has fired over 400 rounds. The twist required would be 1 :
Custom Stevens 200 in .223 cal. 223 heavy mods sold 600
The magazine is completely enclosed within.
So here's the new project gun for the 2 hr lunch channel to play with.
I dont reload and dont believe on spending a ton on.223 ammo. Ive kryloned it and really like the results. Featuring a dual pillar bedded, gray or camo synthetic stock, with button rifled free floating barrel, the model 200 is. The stevens 200 is a great buy.but before i'd buy one and drop a sss trigger in for $100 i'd suggest looking at a t3 tikka in syn/blue in 223.possibly w/8 twist.
New to stevens model 200 in.223 i believe the 1:12 twist works best for smaller weight bullets and the 1:9 works better with the heavier.
The trigger, although not too soft, enables accurate fire with relatively short pull. The stock it has on it is the stock that it came with from the factory but it is spray painted. Up for sale is my stevens model 200 which is made by savage. Based on greenhill's equasion, velocity less than 2800 fps, using copper jacketed lead bullets.
It's light recoil and less expensive ammo will be a boon to you for extending practice sessions and less fatigue.
If i have that backwards, someone please correct me. These bullets are mostly light weight varmint and match bullets that need a slow twist rate, but i want to be able to use higher weight bullets like let's say a 70gr accubond or maybe a 60gr partition or even a 60gr to 68gr monolithic bullet. The slower the rifling twist, the heavier the bullets the gun will stabilize and shoot accurately. This gun is totally stock, except.
It's the savage/stevens model 200 in.223 remington.
Unfortunately, 1:7 is too fast for frangible varmint bullets, so now we have two standard twist rates for.223 rifles: I suggest getting a tighter fitting jag and recheck it. My next move was to try a 40 grain hornady. At 200 yards the.223 will sit you perfectly.
4 + 1 blind magazine ;
As with all my other savage rifles the groups should tighten after 100 rounds or so. Besides, i cant find 69 grain ammo anywhere. 1 in 12 thompson/center, remington: I have a some bullets in.224 caliber that i will be using on a 223 rem bolt action rifle.
Mine shoots under an inch with almost every type of ammo ive tried.
The latter are often, but not always, stamped 5.56mm. Since no rifles are chambered in 1:8.3, a twist of 1:8 or faster would be required to shoot this bullet. W/blue barrel & camo synthetic stock the stevens model 200 carries the spirit of fine workmanship and honest value. Stevens 200 action is the same as one used for more costly savage model 110.
Anyway, thanks everyone for the great responses.
1:12 for varmint rifles and 1:7 for military type rifles. (my t3 ss varmint 223 is 8 twist) you'd be the same $$ in the rifles plus have a very decent trigger.better barrel & a drop mag. Its a 1:9 twist, and the stevens stock is pillar bedded. Specifications | stevens model 200 ;
