Anything over 50mm with a sigma isn't good in my book.
The sigma 50 150 lens can be used in a number of situations. Distortion consists of mild barrel distortion in the center of the frame (not as strong at corners. I have specialized kits for >other times. The transition is linear over the focal length range.

If i go for an f/2.8 (short to medium) tele zoom, why settle for less than 200 mm on the long end. Flare is very well controlled at 50mm and very strong at 150mm.
