Anything over 50mm with a sigma isn't good in my book.
The sigma 50 150 lens can be used in a number of situations. Distortion consists of mild barrel distortion in the center of the frame (not as strong at corners. I have specialized kits for >other times. The transition is linear over the focal length range.
Value for money the price of around £720 means that this lens is a more affordable and compact alternative to the traditional.
Sigma is notorious for being really soft. 9 out of 10 points and recommended by kdavis (4. 4.7 out of 5 stars. They aren't terrible, but not great.
You can choose the focal length that works best based on how far you are from your subject.
If i go for an f/2.8 (short to medium) tele zoom, why settle for less than 200 mm on the long end. Flare is very well controlled at 50mm and very strong at 150mm.
