SIGMA APO 150500mm F/56.3DG OS HSM (for Nikon AF mount
The lens is manufactured by sigma but is available with a nikon mount.
As mentioned, older sigma lenses need a manufacturer firmware update to be compatible.
Yes, but is not the most ideal solution. If the subject is closer than 0.52m, only mf is available. *3 with 1.4x apo tele converter, af can operate between infnity and 0.45m. Even though many of these lenses work great, note that even some “fully compatible” lenses may not work quite as well on the ftz adapter compared to using a dslr.

The new z and rf mounts on the nikon z6/7 and canon eos r have been a big deal for a lot of people contemplating making the switch. Not sure where the cutoff line for compatibility is, if there is one. That being said, there are a number of ifs and buts (no coconuts though).
Nikon has no responsibility to change their body.
I did find this, so it seems to be a thing, including with the d7200. *1 when the tele converter is attached, the zoom range will be restricted to between 100mm to 500mm. *2 with 1.4x apo tele converter, af can operate between infnity and 0.52m. Always used with protective uv filter (not included).
