This is not normal, i've never heard this happen on this car before.
When the engine is running and fully warmed up, the engine computer pulses the purge valve open allowing some amount of fuel vapors to be purged from the charcoal canister and burned in the engine.
I've read differing accounts on whether this is normal for the purge valve, and many reports where replacing the assembly makes the noise go away. I pulled over fearing that i a valve train issue. The longer the ecu maintains the ground pulse. Get it as soon as tue, feb 1.

The louder of the two sources i have determined is the purge valve solenoid behind the engine.
That means the ecu turns ground on and off causing this solenoid to make that clicking noise.

Then when the computer wants to do a evap leak self check it open the purge valve and shut the charcoal canister vent valve then looks at the fuel tank pressure sensor to make sure it can make the vacuum and be able to sustain the vac for a predeciced amount. So it is normal for it to run and will throw a code if it is stuck and not functioning.

I just noticed that the purge valve solenoid does not make any ticking sound while the engine is cold but when the engine reaches it normal operating temperature it ticks and rattle s. Check engine light is on. But you cannot hear the noise from inside the vehicle. I noticed that the noise didn't increase when the rpm was increased, so i popped the hood and noticed that the purge control solenoid valve (next to brake booster) was clicking extremely loud.

The question is this valve/ solenoid bad or is it something else perhaps a pressure sensor in the evap canister causing this problem. Today i unplugged the valve when it was ticking and the noise went away, plug it back in and the noise comes right back. If it throws the p1457 then the evap canister and shut off valve should be replaced. There seem to be two distinct sources of ticking noises from my 2015 2lt at, 67k miles.
