These are montblanc 146, pelikan m800 and pilot custom 823. The montblanc feels more comfortable to grip due to its girth but i do enjoy the lightness of the 3776 and the posted dimensions are perfect. Time to compare pelikan's flagship pen to it's smaller brother.befriend me on facebook:
Gourmet Pens Review Pelikan Souverän Red M600 Fountain
Both montblanc 164 and pelikan m600 are excellent products and perform very well.
That really is the biggest distinction between the lines.
I have an m200, an m600, m800, and my wife has an m605. One can use a smaller pen or larger pen that. When pelikan increased the size of the m600 pen to the new style in 1997, the nib was increased in size a little bit to keep. The m800 is too big in my opinion to be used if posted, so my m600 is always in my bag and the m800 is the queen of the drawer, i use it at home when i need to enjoy this magnificent pen.
Their size increases with their number, hence making a m400 smaller than a m600, and the same applies to the m800 and m1000.
Although the pelikan m800 does have its place in the market, especially if you do have larger hands, we would recommend that the majority of our readers save the cash on its higher price tag and just go with the pelikan m600 instead. Gone would be the translucent stripes present for the last 40 years of the line’s heritage, exchanged for an opaque replacement. But which one to choose? It's piston filler holds quite a bit of ink and i like the size over the m200 without too much extra weight.
M600 discussion i glean that the m600 is best suited to men with smaller than average hands and to women with larger than average hands.
More and more, i find myself turning not to the larger m800 (as many pelikan fans do), but to the smaller m400. For reference i have amongst others: If you like a light pen, go m600. Level 1 · 5 yr.
Early last month, i wrote about a new initiative at pelikan that would see the long standing translucence of the souverän’s barrel eliminated.
Pelikan m600 vs pelikan m800. Depending on the year of release, the m600 can be found in… Log in or sign up to leave a comment. The m600 is very light, posts well, and fits perfectly in a shirt pocket.
Great for most people, but especially those with smaller hands.
You can well imagine how the m800 dwarfed its siblings in the lineup at the time of its introduction and represented a truly new size option for the first time in the company’s modern history. The other stuff like 18c vs 14c nibs are less consequential. The pelikan m800 is a classic business pen while the visconti homosapiens boasts some very unique features. Pelikan m600 vs m800 conclusion.
We feel that it will be a very similar fit for the majority of people out there.
Here’s a quick run down: Those outsized by the m800 can expect to be wrestled to the mat every day if attempting to use the implement for more than a signature pen. The pelikan souveran m400 (left) compared to the m600 (center) and the m800 (right) as it turns out, i’m no longer sure that the m600 takes first prize among the pelikan lineup for me. Neither worked for me because my fingers are (sorry) meaty and sweaty.
The m600 was initially released in 1985, the black variant first followed by burgundy in 1989 and then green striated in 1990.
If you prefer heftier, go m800. It wasn’t until 1997 that pelikan adjusted the lines to make the m600 more of an intermediate size to bridge the gap between the m400 and m800. I'm comparing the three flagship models of the three biggest fountain pen makers. There are some more subtle changes as well.
At the time of their introduction, these pens were the same size as the m400 which was reintroduced a few years earlier.
Personally for a pen to carry about, i would prefer the m600. Both montblanc 146 and pelikan m800 pens use a piston filling mechanism that can hold a decent amount of ink. The sailor 1911 does lack a real piston filler but you are able to opt for the sailor 1911 realo if you are dead set on having a piston filler in your pen as we know a number of our readers will only use fountain pens that have a piston filler. The m400, m600, m800 and m1000 (not too sure about this) are part of pelikan's souverän class, which sport gold nibs.
As we touched on, as you can see in our pelikan m800 vs sailor 1911 comparison table above, both pens are excellent and offer great quality.
It’s a great daily writer and a workhorse. One level below flagship, this is what you get.befriend me on facebook: The difference between these pens are their sizes. Perfect for putting in a pocket or bag and ideal for travelling.
For example the m800 and m1000 move to a brass piston filling mechanism instead of a plastic one, which is a nice upgrade that can’t be seen when simply looking at the pen.
However, for a great writing experience i like the tactile feeling i get from writing with the m800. While the pelikan fountain pen naming is relatively simple, the ballpoints aren’t as easy. Nibs from the old style are the same size/length as the m400. I am just speaking from personal experience and observation.as many of you know, i am obsessed.
However, some reviews say that pelikan m800 is smoother and more defined than montblanc 146.
Hello friends!i am not an expert when it comes to these pens.
