I just purchased a guitar kit & the body is made out of paulownia wood.

Unplugged they are resonant and loud and plugged have less sustain and forward note, more air more mids and less highs than heavier guitars. Even if they did, they'd charge an arm and a leg. The wood already has a wide range of possible applications today. Even though paulownia is classified as a hardwood, it is fairly soft.

The wood is burned to make charcoal for sketching and powder for fireworks, the bark is made into a dye.

Interesting that there are radically different grades of it. Paulownia is rather plain, while wrc is colorful with a lot of color variation. It is used for chests, boxes, and clogs. If it was my money i'd go for a poplar/alder body with a maple veneer top.
