For a budget telephoto, this lens performs very well. Shooting wide open at 55mm, the sharpness in the centre is already good, and the clarity. The vr in the newer model is also improved by a stop (4 stop improvement compared to 3 stops in the older model). One of them is made of magic ed glass.
Build quality is pretty decent for a consumer zoom.
