What you might want to pick up is a nikon cl3t closeup lens. Thanks you all for the picture samples. The nikon vr zooming mechanism “creeps” while the vr ii had improved on this. As far as image quality is concerned, you will only see the differences if you lay your shots made with different lenses right next to each other.

The earlier version has the side marking missing the ii and no text around front element at all. Vr is the earlier implementation of nikon’s vibration reduction technology and it is later improved by the release of vr ii.

Comes with hood, caps, pouch and paperwork. This is why i pointed out the differences in having 9 blades vs. Fortunately the images remain fine, but i'm wondering if something is broken inside. In general, most zoom lenses are sharper at shorter focal lengths, and get less sharp as the lens gets optically longer.

I've had this lens for six years and these just began. If i tilt the lens end over end, i hear a component rattling inside which is assume to be a vr part. The picture of the bird does blur out the background quite smoothly. The sharpest spot differs from one lens to another, especially with zoom lenses.
