Lustre finish paper is definitely a common professional choice, and all the pro photo labs offer lustre paper as a standard option for prints. Yeah but with a sharper paper you see more flaws in the image. The lustre format is halfway between matte and glossy, essentially it's glossy without the glare. Because detailed images usually look best, if it is too dark may you might loose the advantage a metallic surface offers.
