Can number plate lights be too bright? The lights would then be attached to the license plate cover and wired into the plate light power, which will only be on when the lights are on. They look way too bright to me and seem to be visible from behind. It's a shame you would want to ruin your housing just to get less bright of bulbs. Ordered a set of these today: And if they're factory fitting them nowadays then there can't be issues with them.

Looks more modern comapred to the horrible yellow lights fitted as. Order a less luminous pair. The oem leds fitted to vag cars are normally set to 127% brightness. For a more affordable option, the rupse two pieces license plate light kit is a good choice because they are easy to install and durable, with a waterproof rating of ip67.
But still, as stator says, your numberplate should be readable and that's it.
