Led Dimmable Light Bulbs Not Turning Off Yueximei 10W Dusk To Dawn BR30 LED Bulb, 60W

Cfl/led dimmers reduce power by turning the power on, and then off for a set period of time (i.e. The dimmer 2 is wired with a neutral, so seems odds that it cannot turn off the load completely.

There is about 10 volts supply going to them when they are meant to be switched off which is obviously enough for them to light dimly. It’s a function of the led’s electronics interacting with canopy’s electronics. This is because when led light bulbs were first released, it was uncommon for them to be dimmable.

It seems you can put a resistor of some sort between the switch and the lights to soak that up.

After a bit of googling it seems some dimmer switches let through a low amount of electric which for most lights isn't an issue but as led's only need a small amount to work it's enough to keep them slightly lit up.

The 120v feed should be going to the black screw or wire, and the lights should be attached to the brass screw or red wire. As the years go by, the diodes will emit less light. If i change one of the bulbs with a different type of led, the problem goes away, but when all 4 are the same 4w bulb, they do not completely turn off. The light will be provided forever if an actual component in the leds fails.

1 press and hold “off” button on dimmer 2 press and hold “off” button on remote 4 connect the dimmer 5 mount the dimmer 6 attach the wallplate 7 turn power on at circuit breaker 2 remove existing.

In this case the led continues to glow permanently when the light switch is turned off. Another way to describe this method is how the dimmer turns the led on and off very quickly. The solution is to only use dimmers that say they are specifically designed for use with led lamps. Some days they'd turn on, other days they wouldn't,so we decided to replace them all with led bulbs.

I have 4 x 4w led bulbs in a fixture that will not turn off completely with a dimmer 2.

The totally electronic type where there is no slide or knob are the type that usually don't work to totally turn off leds. I connected the led strip and these two night light's (5 watts each bulb) but that was not enough to turn off the led completely. As opposed to triac dimmers’ which will be “on for as long as the phase is not x degrees or close to the peak power”). .apparently there's still just a little bit of current running through when the switch is off and it's enough to keep the led on.

Any leakage currents and induced.

When a switch is off it should be off with not voltage across the bulb. Getting back to your problem, you could have six neutrals and you’d still have the same issue with the led not fully turning off. .looks great but won't turn off. If the led indicator lights on the dimmer do not go out, it is wired backwards.

These will usually have a detectable off detent in the slide / rotary knob that is used for dimming.

Pwm uses the exact electrical current that the actual led needs. The afterglow issue is usually only visible after converting from old light bulbs to leds. My chandelier has 8 led bulbs similar to the ones you posted. Turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse before installing.

This is caused because the leds require so little power compared to traditional bulbs.

It sounds as though the dimmer is wired backwards. 1 turn power off at circuit breaker! May result in serious injury or death. To make it simpler, if you dim your led bulbs to 20%, they will be on for 20% of the time and off for 80% of the time.

A number of community members have concerns about using automated dimmers and led lighting loads because of issues with flickering or not turning fully off.

This may be due to the type of light switch or dimmer or an incorrectly connected switch. When i reverted back to fluorescent bulbs, all but one work normally (at least in the 5 hours since reversion to fluorescent). As led bulb internal electronics became more advanced, dimming became possible and ultimately we are at the point today where dimming is. From your description, the switch seems to be working as designed, so i’d try a bypass to draw the voltage down.

I then replaced the (2) 5 watts bulbs with (2) 60 watt candelabra bulbs but that was not enough to turn off the led completely.

Even an unfavorable cable routing can be responsible for the glow. A way to test this is to pull the tab out at the bottom of the dimmer. It’s at its worst when dimmable leds are used in incandescent dimmer switches, but it happens with led switches, too. A fix is to add resistance with a “dummy load” to increase the power consumption.

The dimmer is supposed to work for leds, and the led bulbs i got from amazon are supposed to be dimmable.

Unlike fluorescent lamps and other bulbs, leds don’t burn out, but they will degrade and dim over time. “on for ten ms, off for five ms”; They work fine and switch off completely when wired as a one way lighting circuit, but when in a 2 way/intermediate circuit they dim significantly but do not turn off. .while not full bright, it's bright enough to see light on the stove during the day.
