Kaladin, in his depression, almost slips back into mocking adolin in his head, but their friendship is strong enough by then that stops himself. I think what makes elhokar's death so much worse is the lead up to it.
This isn’t exactly unexpected—he didn’t get much resolution after elhokar’s death, moash’s betrayal, and his failure to swear the fourth ideal, after all.
