You have to be in the locker when they hook the person and stay there for 4 seconds or they will see you. Barbecue and chili is meant to encourage killers to leave hook to find other survivors (sort of like devour hope). But being a killer is easier than being a survivor.

Dead by daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game. Bbq and chili will not detect you if you are hiding in a locker. i think this would not only balance the perk a little better, but would add a new and fun tactical aspect to the game. May not be appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work. I got into the locker before he hooked a survivor and still he came directly at me and open the locker i was in!

Why do so many survivors hate bbq and chili? Dead by daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game in which four resourceful survivors face off against one. This happened also to my teammate. Ds is super circumstantial and borrowed time only helps prolong the game a little bit.
What i propose is making barbecue & chili an hex perk.
Before you say ds and borrowed time are op take into account if a surv isn't literally humping the nuts of the killer and someone is hooked their hosed. I think that a fair modification would be this: Rose the best place to ski, board, apres and play all winter long. If you're across the map, they're probably not going to stray that far from the hook.
Also don't forget hoarder which will let killers know you are opening a chest and territorial imperative which lets them know you're in the basement (not that anybody uses those).

Barbeque & chili is the most common perk at upper levels of play and has been the #1 perk for killers for years now.

Your preferences are configured to warn you when images may be sensitive. I disagree, by showing there is no body around will ensure the killer leave,. It's frustrating to play against killers who use barbeque & chili, and allows some killers to 4k without breaking a sweat. Of course, bbq chili doesn't necessarily mean they're coming for you.
