You can even find a few +p loads. I have two.444's and a.450. Designed in 1873, this round was meant for use by the us army with their springfield rifles during and after the american civil war.

But a 500 grain bullet hunting load in a light lever gun will rock your world.
Navy warships launched in the 1880s and 1890s. A uberti is very much like the springfield trapdoor in terms of heft, size and feel. The.444 shoots much flatter than most folks realize. The loading for the 45/70 government will shoot well in the 45/70 trapdoor springfield and the other loading will not shoot that well or be able to use with the sights on a trapdoor rifle !
Marlin 1895 lever action rifle.
For me, its nothing more than a pure defensive tool in a short and handy package. All about hunting dogs, hog hunting, deer hunting and hunting as a lifestyle. The difference in the 45/70 government load and other loading is this ! You need to be the right guy pulling the trigger with both in order to hit what your aiming at.
